Sandra was born and raised in Dallas, TX and learned Spanish as her primary language. At the age of 8 she began attending ESL classes where she became fluent in English. Because her parents spoke only Spanish, she would speak English all day at school and speak only Spanish at home; this helped her become fluent in both languages without forgetting one for the other.
Sandra graduated from the Skyline Center where she applied and got accepted to the Child Development Cluster. There she was given the opportunity to take extracurricular courses pertaining to the physical, mental, and emotional development of children. The cluster also provided her with dual credit college courses and hands on experience in early education. She began by observing children as young as infants to 5 year olds, then by participating in class as a teacher assistant, later by learning how to plan class curriculums and finally by implementing them on her own.
Currently, in college, Sandra plans to major in Child Psychology and Education to further expand her knowledge and that of her future students. She is thrilled to be part of the Mariposas Spanish School and is furthermore excited to be part of the student’s learning experience of a new language.
“Stella has really enjoyed your program. She is always very excited to go and we love hearing her sing various Spanish songs from the back seat of the car, the stroller, and the bathtub. It’s so cute!”

“Thank you so much!! Ainsley has loved your Spanish class–and we DO hear a lot of Spanish from her at home! She counts to 14 all the time! We appreciate you so much!!!”

“I just wanted to let you know my son walked out of Spanish class yesterday and said, “I LOVE it, it was so much fun.” So thanks to Sandra for making his first Spanish experience wonderful – we look forward to it every Tuesday.”
