Veronica (Vero) Holmquist

CPR/First Aid Certified

Lead Teacher

Veronica was born and raised in  Veracruz, Mexico. Her work experience in Mexico includes teaching marketing classes at a college level, tutoring English and managing a college’s Continuing Education department.

In 2000, she moved to the U.S. and first lived in San Francisco, CA  then relocated Austin. Because of her fluency in Spanish, she was hired to work in International Banking  and Investments, traveling domestically and internationally to acquire customers. After becoming a mother, Veronica decided to stay home, raise her son and reconnect with her passion for education.

For the past five years,  she has been an active volunteer at her son’s Montessori School. In 2018, she became a substitute teacher at Magellan International School and a volunteer teacher at Manos de Cristo where she is helping Spanish-speaking students complete their elementary studies.

She has an MBA from St Edward’s University in Austin and a Bachelor’s in Business-Marketing from the Tec de Monterrey, Mexico.  Currently, she attends Austin Community College to obtain her Child Development certification.

Veronica loves spending time with her family, she likes to paint, cook, read, travel, hike,  and camp.   She believes that education is an investment  and the most powerful tool you can give to any child.  Mariposas is excited to have Vero on our team and look forward to all that she will bring to the program.
